The Story of Obedience | Serbulent Turan | TEDxTerryTalks
In this TEDx talk, Serbulent Turan tries to formulate an answer to the age-old question “why do we obey?” using the hybridity between political science and psychology. Turan explores different cases of obedience, and resistance, to authority from historical examples to the more recent Arab Spring, and how we can use this model to explain our own acts of obedience.
Serbulent is a PhD candidate in the Political Science Department at UBC. He specializes in Political Theory, particularly the constitution and legitimacy of political authorities, norms of political obligation and social discipline.
