My Neighbor, My Killer
My Neighbor, My Killer is an award winning documentary by Anne Aghion on the Gacaca (local courts) Justice in Rwanda. Literally meaning, “justice on the grass”, Gacaca is a form of citizen-based transitional justice which Rwandans decided to put into place in an attempt to deal with the crimes of the 1994 genocide. Filming for over a decade in a tiny rural hamlet, director Anne Aghion charts the impact Gacaca has had on survivors and perpetrators alike.

- Elizabeth Mujawamariya Johnson, was born and raised in Rwanda. She immigrated to Canada in 1999 with her daughter, Abran. Elizabeth is a co-founder of Grace Rwanda Society; a Canadian based charity organization that has a vision of collaborating with rural communities to support sustainable development and the education of children and youth in Africa starting in Rwanda.
