Enbridge satire possibly pulled by newspaper because of fiscal pressure from Enbridge.
Apparently, a video made by the Province’s cartoonist, Dan Murphy, was forcibly pulled due to Enbridge pressure. According to the CBC, there’s a number of different claims of what was said and what was not said, but some of the choice quotes include:
The parody was taken down and Murphy says he was given a blunt message by Vancouver Province editor Wayne Moriarity.
“‘If it doesn’t come down, Enbridge says they’re pulling a million dollars worth of advertising from Postmedia, and if it doesn’t come down, I, Wayne Moriarty, I’m going to lose my job,’” Murphy said Moriarity told him.
Enbridge, of course, is denying all of this.
There’s also the copyright argument, since Murphy essentially remashed an Enrbidge produced video, originally created to promote the pipeline. In any event, you can read the details here.
Regardless, let’s push this into potential Streisand Effect territory, by making sure, that at the very least, this blog presents to you the offending satirical video.
